1. “Introduction to Grantwriting”

Context:
This product was an online course developed as a team project for EDET 755 – Evaluation of Information Access and Delivery. The course was developed and added to a Learning Management System (LMS) and shared with peers who served as the course students.

Conditions: This course was one of several assignments completed within the timeframe of a four-week summer school course and it utilized a free LMS for its delivery. Scope: The course is among those on the LMS to which it was loaded and it represents a completed course relative to the assignment requirements. It is not being actively used as course at present.

Role:
As one member of a four-person team, I worked on developing course content to supplement a course outline provided by another of the team’s members. I wrote additional assessment items and identified additional online resources that could be used to expand the depth of the content, used the interface of the LMS to post content to the course within designated folders, and developed the banner graphic. We each took responsibility for sending a daily email for an assigned day to our students to provide them with detailed instructions for that day’s assignment and to encourage their participation and communication with us if they encountered any problems.

Performance Indicators:
4.0.1 Demonstrate leadership attributes with individuals and groups (e.g., interpersonal skills, group dynamics, team building).
This group project allowed us to each find a role within which we could contribute in ways that maximized our individual strengths. Because I am comfortable researching content, writing performance objectives, and developing assessment items, I was able to volunteer to expand the course content. Additionally, my familiarity with graphics software was helpful in developing the course banner and when we were unable to identify the needed banner image dimensions within the LMS documentation.

4.1.1, 2.1, 3.1 Apply project management, resource management, delivery system management or information management techniques in various learning and training contexts.
Using Blackboard™ CourseSites LMS as our resource for delivering the course content gave me the opportunity to become familiar with its various utilities and options for organizing and presenting information, administering assessment, and communicating with students. The features of the LMS also made it possible to provide information to students in various formats (hyperlinked pages, downloadable files, etc.)

2. CAST UDL Book Builder™ Project: "Instruments of the Orchestra"

Context: This document was developed as a course assignment in EDET 722-Instructional Design and Assessment.
Conditions: The assignment followed a systematic approach to the design and creation of content for a hypothetical third grade class. A primary focus of the project was to create a product that reflects the principles of Universal Design for Learning. To create the content, we utilized free musical instrument images and sound files demonstrating each instrument.
Scope: The project is complete and is currently available online.
Role: As one of four team members, my primary role was content editing of the text that comprised the book.
Performance Indicators
:
4.0.1 Demonstrate leadership attributes with individuals and groups (e.g., interpersonal skills, group dynamics, team building). This was one of the first group projects in my program of study. It required that as individual team members, we identify our own strengths and contribute to the project accordingly. Like other group projects, the work of the team was managed via a project wiki that allowed us to communicate and review work prior to its transfer to the BookBuilder™ interface.

4.1.1, 2.1, 3.1 Apply project management, resource management, delivery system management or information management techniques in various learning and training contexts.
Because we were working specifically with the Book Builder™ utility, it was necessary that we work within the constraints and resources available to us through the program. Of the many online projects developed within my program of study, this one was the only one developed for delivery via CAST's interface for published projects.
